Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
Gave my notice and boss accepted it in writing then told me to get my jacket and leave. I told him that I was getting my personal items in my office and he told me that he would see I get them and to leave now. I left and later that day an employee called stated that she and another employee were instructed to get my belonging. They were to be given to yet another employee so she could give them to a family friend. How do they know if I had anything of value in the office and not even giving me the opportunity to request a copy of my personal file. Is this not illegal!

No, not unless you can identify an item of personal property belonging to you
that was left in your office and that the employer is now wrongfully
withholding from you (in my opinion).
