I GAVE MY 2 WEEK NOTICE ON DECEMBER 15th 2009,,,I WAS SCHEDULED TO WORK DEC 12-18TH AND VACATION THE NEXT WEEK,,,AND WORK TIL JAN 2ND ,MY MANAGER NEVER ASKED ME WHEN MY LAST DAY WAS,,,,MY LEAD TECH PUT ME ON THE SCHEDULE UNTIL JANUARY 2nd,,WHICH IS THE DAY I TOLD HER I WAS WORKING TO,,,WHEN I GOT TO WORK ON DEC 27,,I WAS TOLD I WAS TERMINATED THE WEEK BEFORE,,,SO THEY HAD TO REHIRE FOR A WEEK,,,,,THEN WHEN I TRIED TO FILL MY SCRIPT TODAY IT SAID MY INSURANCE WAS TERMINATED,,,HOW CAN U TERMINATE INSURANCE IF YOU ARE STILL WORKING,,,ISNT THERE A GRACE PERIOD??? ALSO I ASKED TO STAY ON THE SCHEDULE AND WORK ON THE WEEKENDS I AM OFF,,I WAS TOLD NO,,,,THERE IS A GIRL THAT WORKS FOR THE SAME COMPANY, SAME DISTRICT, AND SHE IS WORKING AT CARILION AND AT CVS ON HER DAYS OFF,,,ISNT THIS DISCRIMINATION OF SOME SORT....CAN I FILE A CIVIL SUIT AGAINST MY NOW EX EMPLOYER FOR THIS CRAP...

You may have a right to claim extended medical insurance program coverage under COBRA (federal law) even if you are no longer employed with
this particular company and should look into it. (You, however, would be
responsible for paying for the entire amount of the insurance under this
paricular program.)
Regarding your possible claim for civil damages against this employer
for terminating you under the circumstances described, I regret to
report that, unfortunately, I do not see such claim(s) likely going any where
except out of court on an order of dismissal.
