Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Gender Discrimination????

I currently work for a large national hardware chain as a Flooring Specialist. Been with company for 2-3/4 yrs. During a weekly meeting, store manager asked if anyone knew of anyone with knowledge in Interior Design. I have an ASB in Interior Design. When I raised my hand, I was told by manager that he was looking for a woman. When job was posted, I officially applied for job. I have been informed that a woman has been hired from another national hardware chain with no formal training in Interior Design. I was never allowed to interview for the position. Have I been discriminated upon and what kind of compensation can I expect? To note, the chain I work for is an EEOC company.

Re: Gender Discrimination????

You may, indeed, have been discriminated against

in the fact scenario that you've described.

I would have no way of knowing at this juncture what compensation you might be entitled to resulting from a judgment against your employer for having violated federal anti-discrimination provisions of Title V11.
