Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
General Manager out to get me
I am a manager and I have been for almost 2 yrs.I have a new general manager and I feel that he is out to get me. He recently suspended me for an employee giving me a platic wrap off of a cigeratte box, he stated that I was trying to sale drugs, when I didnt even have anything on me. When the employee involved wrote a statement saying that nothing was going on he tried to bully him by saying well thats not what it looked like on camera. when I had to submit paperwork for being suspended I told him i couldnt sign the papers till Wed, and he submitted them to HR without my knowledge, signature, or even reading it. Is there anything I can do to get him off my back? Can Human resources fire me for not even having drugs on camera or on me?Could he submit the paperwork without my signature?

Re: General Manager out to get me
Unfortunately, unless you are working under a contract of employment which offers protection from the kinds of alleged abuses attributed to your general manager, the reality is that you could be fired at any time (and without recourse) for almost any reason(or no reason) that doesn't violate federal anti-discrimination law in an employment at will jurisdiction such as the Commonwealth of Virginia.
