Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Possible Harassment Lawsuit?

I am a 31 year old female General Manager of a very large Community Association in Virginia.

I was threatend by a Board member (of 9) to carry out a task of submitting a proposal to a contractor which he signed without the authority of the Board President and/or Board. According to the Association Bylaws he did not have the authority to take this action nor is the contract valid without two Board designated signatures.

His exact words to me were ''In 5 months I am going to do everything possible to be elected President (Note: he served as a past President and can be reelected)and if you don't do what I tell you to do you wont last 20 seconds.'' ''This is why I hate working with clerks.'' ''If a Board Officer comes to tell you to do something you better do it.'' ''If I was President now and you did this you wouldn't last 20 seconds.''

Fact, if he was President he would have the authority. Fact, by doing this he is defying the President, Board Policies and Association Bylaws. Fact, the threat was made on me because I would not carry out his request.

Now, if he does become President there is the possibility he could become my immediate supervisor and I'm left to deal with this attitude.

Thank you.
