Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Harassment

I am having a problem with the male techs were I went. I called and met with Human Resources. After explaining that I felt the mens comments to the woman were inappropriate and giving details the HR person had a team meeting to discuss a few of the issues. She came back to me and said she would do diversity training and asked if I wanted to file a official complaint.

1. Do I have to submit a complaint in writing to have anything done?

2. I work in VA. The headquarters is in MD. Is MD an ''at will state?

Re: Harassment

You should not have to submit a claim in writing

in order "to have anything done." Employers usually take claims of sexual harassment quite seriously these days as they know these kinds of claims can quite literally turn into "federal cases".

Virginia is, of course, an employment at will jurisdiction; I have no idea about Maryland.
