Hello,
If I signed a contract to work with an employor for a 3 year period for a specific job position and after a year of working this position the company decides to eliminate that position and places me into a position that does not relate to my initial job description of my initial contract, would that be considered a breach of contract?

No, not necessarily (in my opinion), but further review of the
relevant facts associated with this matter as well as the
contract itself would likely be necessary in order
to opine on this issue with a greater degree of certainty.
