Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

My wife has endured months of workplace harassment, hostile environment and intimidation issues at her job by her direct supervisor and was forced to quit by her immediate supervisor and HR representative today because our son's daycare being closed last week from a snow storm which resulted in her having to call in a use a day vacation. The HR manager told her that she needed a back up care for our son since most working families have that and she needed to find a backup so she could make it in to work. She also told that she was not entitled to her employers Code of Conduct just because she walked through the door for work and had to let the managers treat her as they wanted. Her immediate supervisor made threatening comments towards her about her not being able to report for work. I called her manager when I arrived home from work last Monday and advised her that she was in violation of several Virginia laws regarding workplace harassment and asked for it to stop. Any option?

So, what are these specific Virginia laws "regarding workplace harassment" which you claim were violated by this employer? (Virginia is a so-called employment a will jurisdiction wherein employees (working without a contract) can be fired for almost any reason that doesn't violate one or more of the protected categories enumerated in federal anti-discrimination
law.)
