hostile work environment

I work for a large state agency and a supervisor has recently been disciplined( counselling and transfer) for sexual harassment. He was transferred to a position where hee has continued to belittle and degrade subordinates. A complaint has been lodged and is under investigation and the department I work for has not removed him from his postion which continues to create a hostile work environment for those individuals that were interviewed and spoke up to the hostile situation. The department has interviewed over 15 subordinates and at least 5 have articulated that this supervisor creates a hostile work environment.

Must my department remedy this immediately for the benefit of those that are working in this environment. How long can the department continue to allow this supervisor contact with employees that feel intimidated, harassed and degraded by said supervisor. Is there a potential failure to act suite here if the department does not take appropriate action?

As long as the hostile work environment does

not result from specific sexual harassment

behaviour on the part of the supervisor, no

violations of either state or federal law would

appear to be involved in the scenario that you

have described.
