Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

hostile work environment

The owner of the company where I'm employed verbally abuses his employees....he constantly swears and shouts at male and female employees alike...this creates a very tense atmosphere and he has even taken a swing at one of the male employees before (although I never witnessed the event--others did) Since he is the owner this is a very touchy subject. Do his employees have any recourse?

Re: hostile work environment

Since the hostile work environment which you've described, apparently, has nothing to do with the

hostile work environment connected with sexual harassment conduct prohibited under federal law,

it would appear that the employees' only realistic remedy would be to look for other work.

Virginia is an employment-at-will jurisdiction where employees have few rights and can be fired for almost any reason which doesn't violate federal anti-discrimination laws.
