Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Can my HR dept force me to submit a doctors note from missing 2 days of work? In our employee handbook it states "after 3 missed days ofwork you will be asked to supply a doctors note stating you can return back to work". I only missed 2 days. Several other employees who had the same illness (flu) and have missed more than 2 days have NOTbeen required to submit a note. I know this because I'm part of management.

Unless you're working pursuant to a contract or collective bargaining type

of agreement which would prohibit such a requirement, I would say that

you must comply. (And, no, it's very unlikely that the employee handbook would

constitute such a contract.)
