Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
My husband works a salaried position, He routinely works 70hrs a week and has done a few 85hr weeks in the last few months with no overtime, we accept this, but every once in a great while he'll put in less than 50 hrs and they cut his pay. Is this legal?

Yes, I would think so, unless prohibited by a contract of employment
or collective bargaining type of agreement covering your husband's salaried
position.
