Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
Ilive n Va Beach VA my 16 yr old daughter workd for Dairy Queen. She is given a schedule and repoprts to work on time and is a diligent worker. She has informed me that throughout her shift her manager reqularly tells her to clock out for a little bit due to a slow time in the store. She is scheduled for three to four hour shifts. Is it legal for them to do this to her? I feek they are asking this of her as she is a new to the job market 16 year old.

If your daughter is required to continue working during these periods
that are "off the clock", then the shop would appear to be in violation
of state and federal wage and hour law requirements.
