Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
I was just laid off from my job. My position was 'Engineering Technician'--classified as exempt, yet my former position does not meet any of three categories of exempt employees. for 3.5 years I have been required to work more than 45 hours per week and was never compensated for the overtime. Do I have a recourse?

Are you referring to the categories describesd in the DOL (U.S.Dept. of Labor) regulations for exempt employees.?
If so, you may have a basis to demand the overtime pay which you apparently never received.
