Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Losing Job Due to Illness

I have been out of my job due to a recently found disability. My doctors are still trying to get my several problem under control.

While this was happening, I spoke to my boss, and she told me to take as much time as I needed.

About a week later, I told her that a specialist I was seeing told me I wouldn't be able to work until an undetermined date, and was wondering how I could file for short term disability. A few days later, I was told I needed to come into a meeting, and was told I no longer had a job.

Is there anything I can do? I had short term disability and long term disability, and was in the process of filing the proper forms.

Re: Losing Job Due to Illness

Unless you were under a contract or collective bargaining type of agreement or were under other protected leave such as FMLA, I would say no.
