Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

My Mom was terminated from her job today. She was told the reason was 2 people complained about her making a racist remark. She's a director with a 6 figure income and a lot of people have been ganging up and trying to get her kicked out of her position so they can move up the ranks. She has made multiple complaints in the past to her upper management. The bottom line is these employees have threatened the company with complaints of racisim. I know that my Mom is not racist and said she has made no racist comments which I have no reason to doubt. Her employer told her that they could not reveal the names of the employees that complained or even the remark that was made. She's approaching retirement and these are the last years for her to save up. It's pretty much too late for her to apply for another job. What legal recourse does she have? What should she do or not do? Would going to the news be a bad idea?

If your mother is working under the terms of a valid employment contract, she may be

protected by that. If not, she's probably without a remedy unless she can

put forth a sustainable claim under federal anti-discrimination law under Title V11 and

and one or more of its protected categories such as age, ethnicity, gender, etc.

And, no, at this stage in matters I would not advise her to stir up the

local newshounds in regard to her situation.
