Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Mutual Attraction

I started working at a large corporation and started a relationship with a fellow associate. I am a department supervisor and she is a bookeeper/vault associate. Prior to starting the relationship we approached our managers and our HR and was told that according to SOP it was okay and no problems would arise out of it. 3 months later the SOP has changed and stated that a vault associate cannot date anyone in the store. Can they force her to change positions, terminate one of us for breaking SOP, or make one of us transfer stores? Since we had taken it to the managers and HR, and did again when we noticed the SOP had changed. The corporation never published an annoucement that the change was coming or had occurred. My girlfriend has worked for 8 years with the company to get to the position she is in and loves the job. The only choice would be for me to quit if they tried to force her out of that position, since i have only been with the company for 8 months. The new regional HR is suppose to get back to us and we are still waiting to hear from her. Any advice or answers are greatly appreciated

Re: Mutual Attraction

Unless you and your girlfriend are both working under the protection of an employment contract, this company can very likely implement all of the changes which you've described with impunity and with no requirement that you agree with them.
