Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
negletience
I was a special education teacher in an autism classroom in henrico county virginia. I was assigned to a classroom with 5 students and 4 assistants. On February 2, 2009 I arrived at work to find that only 1 assistant was there and there would be no substitutes for the others. Two of the students were known to be extremely aggressive and 2 students were required by their Individual Education Plans to have one on one assistants. As we began the instructional day one of the aggressive students, who should have had a one on one assistant, assaulted me broke my nose, bit a deep wound on my left arm and left deep scratches on my right arm. I have now been diagnosed as having Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of the assault. I will not be able to return to teaching because of this. I no have a useless Masters degree in Special Education and 20 years of experience. Do I have any legal recourse in this situation?

Re: negletience
You may have; I would suggest that you arrange for a consultation with a local attorney in the Henrico County area who handles personal injury matters and who should be able to advise you on your particualar claim after reviewing all the relevant facts and pertinent documents(including your school contract) which may be applicable to this matter.
