Notification of Wage Garnishment

Do I have to receive notification of a wage garnishment or contest the amount of garnishment prior to wage garnishment? I rec'd notice from my payroll that there was a wage garnishment request from a creditor. To date, I have not received notification. Thank you.

When you receive your copy of the garnishment,

it will explain how you go about contesting it.
