Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Overtime/Breaks

My Job is telling us that overtime is mandatory that we work overtime & our job sercurity in jeropardy if not worked. They also make us work 7 day a week 12 hours shifts on Sunday, Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday and 8 hours the other days.

On the 12 hour days we given only 30 minutes for break all day.

My question is this legal for them to force mandatory overtime and the break time given for the hours we work? Also what laws are there in Va. that prevent unlawful labor practice?

Re: Overtime/Breaks

As far as I am aware, in the absence of a contract which would prohibit the practices which you've described, there is nothing in the labor or related laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia or other similar employment at will jurisdictions which would prohibit such employment practices or make them in any way illegal.
