Parents of Working Minors

As an employer, am I legally obligated to discuss employment issues with the parent of my 16 year old employee or can I simply inform them that I only discuss these matters with the employee directly?

I know of no legal requirement that would require you as an employer to include the parent of the employee minor in such discussions (which in no way means that you should necessarily dismiss the idea).
