Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Pay disparity

I want to know what type of recourse if any I have with this situation.

I and some other employees were demoted from our positions in our company. We were demoted because the company shut down our dept on the East coast. I and two others held Sr. Lead positions. We were told either we could take a severance package or take the demotion. When we took the demotion they told us that we would be placed at the top of the NG3 level as far as our pay. We have now come to find out that other employees that are NG3's are making considerably more than we are. Do we have any recourse.

Thanks

Re: Pay disparity

You could in fact be at the top NG3 level, as was promised, and other long term employees who have been at that level are making more than you, because you, perhaps, were started at the first of several steps on the top NG3 rung, while the others have progressed to the last step on that rung, and, therefore, are being compensated at a higher rate.

Either your supervisor or the personnel manager of your company should be able to confirm exactly what's happened.
