Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Pay

I gave a two week notice and also asked for my one week vacation pay. At the end of the first week,15 minutes before I was to leave for the weekend my Director told me (per the owner)since I gave a two week notice I would get my weeks vacation pay and that was my last day. I only received two days of my vacation pay because they said it was pro-rated. I would like to know if I can do anything to get the other three days of my vacation pay and my second week they didn't let me work. I worked at a Child Care Center.

Re: Pay

No, I don't believe that there is since Virginia employers are under no obligation to provide their employees with paid vacation compensation nor even paid sick leave, for that matter, unless the employees are working under a contract or collective bargaining type of agreement which requires such

compensation.

Re: Pay

You also--absent an agreement otherwise--will not recover the second week that they didn't let you work. An employer, after receiving notice, is under no obligation to continue your employment the full two weeks.
