last paycheck

i had 40 hours of paid vacation time when i was laidoff from my employer and when i received my last paycheck it was not paid.am i entitled to the 40 hours of pay by law?thanks for your help

No, there is no provision in Virginia law that requires employers to provide paid vacations to employees nor to compensate them for vacation leave accrued but not taken---unless the employee is working under a contract of employment or

collective bargaining agreement which specifically provides for such compensation.
