Paycheck Return

We had an employee that only worked for 2 hours of training. She decided (prior to signing a contract) to accept another contract. We issued her payroll check and she returned it to us with a note stating she did not feel comfortable accepting this check. What are the laws regarding this and what do I do with the paycheck?

Put the note in the employee's personnel file (if there be one) and destroy the check(crediting your payroll account, accordingly).
