Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I was an phone operator @ my last job and recently I got a call from a nurse wanting me to page a doctor and I couldn't understand her so I asked her to repeat herself which she did, but the she called again for the third time and said that wasn't the doctor she wanted paged I told her that I'm sorry but I couldn't understand her and she said that there's no need for me to be rude and have an attitude I apologized if she felt that I had an attitude. Well she went and complained to Administration saying that I was rude and unprofessional, so Administration took it upon themselves to just go ahed and fire me without any verbal warning, written warning or suspension. Was it fair on what they did?

No, doesn't sound fair at all, but if you were working without

an enforceable contract of employment affording you protection

from such summary dismissal, then, unfortunately, you would appear to be without viable recourse or remedy for the situation described.
