May a plaintiff in Virginia seek and recover attorney's fees when suing a former employer for unpaid consulting fees due to plaintiff (assuming the plaintiff wins)?

No, not unless the plaintiff had a specific contract with the former employer allowing for the recovery of such attorney's fees.
