Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

My position is being eliminated due to my company not winning our current contact. The new employer verbally offered me a salary, which was commensurate to that of my previous one and I accepted. When I received the written offer letter it was $10k less than the verbal and they stated it was a mis-quote. They would not honor it and hoped I would consider anyway. I declined not only because of the money but due to other un-ethical reasons shown by the new company prior to this happening.

So, your question is what, i.e., do you have a viable claim against this company

for an alleged breach of an oral contract?

I would say, no, probably not in terms of a viable claim.
