Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Hello, I have received an offer letter for a government position, and have been told I would not be brought on until the next fiscal year in October. However, my reserve unit is looking to activate me for approx 3 right about the time I would start. Could the government revoke the offer if I cannot start when they want due to military obligations, since I would not have officially started the job yet?
