Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Receiving pay for hours worked

I was gauranteed 40 hrs a week when I started my job 1 1/2 years ago by my branch manager. (nothing in writing). My time shets are reviewed by my branch manager. When I finish my route (it may end after 5 or6 hrs. I do other small things around the place of business. My route sheet does not reflect this. The other day the president of the company said I was fired because my route sheet did not agree with my time sheet.(even though it had been reveiwed by my branch manager). Can he legally only pay me for the hours on my route sheet even though I worked the hours on my time sheet.

Re: Receiving pay for hours worked

If you worked these hours, you're entitled to be

paid for them, and you should file a complaint with the wage and hour board in the Division of Labor and Employment of the Va. Dept. of Labor & Industry(VDLI).
