Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Reduced hours

When I was hired and for the past 6 months I have been working anywhere from 24-30 hours a week. A month a go I was cut to 18 hrs and then 2 weeks later 12 and then last week zero. My boss says that I'm still employed they just can't afford for me to work right now. And again this week they tell me that they just can't put me on the schedule right now. At what point am I unemployed because I can't afford to have a job but not be working any hours.
