Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
i relocated to another city for a job that i was offered, the employer had to send a letter of proof of employmenyt to the apt complex I was moving into. On the 2nd day the employer fired me for something that had absolutely nothing to do with my job. My 13 yr old son stopped in asked me for $1.00 there were no patients in the office and he left right away. She told me that she felt that he was doing criminal activity on the property. He was sittin in the car on the computer waiting for my other son to come pick him up. He is not involved in gangs or drugs and she never even spoke to him. I have been applying for other jobs but nothing has come through as of yet. I spent my entire savings moving here for this job, i don't know absolutely anybody here. I can break my lease but I have to give a 30 day notice and pay a penalty of 2 months rent which is over $1400.00. My rent is late. I never experienced anything like that in all my years of working. I was told later it could have been because I'm single but I don't know for sure about that. Isn't there something I can do so she has to at least pay the termination fee. I'm lost. I tried calling her several times as so did my son but she won't return phone calls. i have nothing and lost everything for this job. please help.

Unless this new job provided you with protection under an enforceable contract
from the kind of adverse action taken by the employer which you've described, I would have to say that you're most likely without a viable remedy.
