Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I resigned from my teaching job on March 3rd. I received a notice of over payment on May 22 however the notice was back dated to March 27th (post mark on the letter was May 17th) and they said that if I didn't contact them within 15 days of the date on the notice they will send the claim to collections. I dont know how my employer had calucated the overpayment as my wages are based on a 9 month teacher contract which is then spread out over 12 months. My employer did not provide me with any explanation of over payment. This is in Virginia and employer is a local public school.

Well, have you requested orally (and in writing, if necessary) a full explanation

as to this particular situation, and, yes, which (if such explanation is not readily forthcoming)

may also require a personal visit on your part to this local school's HR or other department which handles school employee personnel issues?
