Restroom

In the state of Virginia, can an employer tell you when you are allowed to use the restroom? If you need to use it at a different time, can they prevent you from using it?

In an employment at will jurisdiction such as the Commonwealth, absent a contract or collective bargaining type of agreement which governs this issue, the employer can set conditions

regarding the circumstances under which employees are permitted to leave their respective work stations, including for the use of the bathroom (requiring the employer's permission).

If this is in fact your type of employment situation, you should probably be looking for other work.
