Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
What are my rights regarding being an American and a contractor?
I am an American and a contractor
working for the US government in
South Korea. What are my rights
regarding
repatriation and housing
reimbursement to the company due to
involuntary layoff? The company's
headquarters are in Fairfax VA. I am
currently working in South Korea.
There have been issues with the
amount of time my security clearance
is taking to go through, therefore they
want all the housing allowance they
gave me back immediately and will
leave me no funds to return stateside
or live in Korea. I am basically stuck
here. All I am asking is for them to
repatriate me or allow me to use the
rest of the housing to repatriate and
pay them back a little later. How can I
resolve this situation?

Re: What are my rights regarding being an American and a contractor?
Whatever your rights may be regarding the issues which you've mentioned, you will likely find them outlined in the contract governing your terms of employment with the company which has contracted with the U.S. to perform the work in S. Korea.
Better read it carefully.
