Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

I am a salaried worker for a private company. I was required to work a 40 hour week but I would usually work a few hours extra on my own time. Now they are requiring me to work over 55 hours week. Am I protected if I say no.

No, not unless you're working pursuant to a valid contract which affords you such protection (in my opinion).
