Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Set up to be fired

I was hired to manage the accounting department which included supervising two employees. I would manage them but I had higher level duties as well. The two employees were either fired or moved to another area. Now all their day to day duties as well as my duties all fall on me now. The work for three people is too much for just me, so I realize that I will probably be fired soon. My employer indicated that they are not hiring anyone else and it is on me to get it done. Do I have a potential suit if I get fired for this?

Re: Set up to be fired

No, assuming that you work for a private employer.

Your employer, unfairly or not, has made clear the

conditions required for your continued employment at that firm. Even if you managed to meet these conditions, you could still be terminated as long as federal anti-discrimination laws were not violated.
