Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Severance and Private Information

I recently got laid off and tried to negotiate a severance package for myself and was unsuccessful. I did this all via email and in my email I stated that former employees shared with me what their severance package was. Now my former employer is demanding I tell them who these people are that shared this private information because they apparently are in violation of their severance agreement. Do I have to share this very private information? They have threatend legal action against me.

Re: Severance and Private Information

So what if these other former employees are allegedly in violation of their respective severance agreements with your former employer. How does that obligate you to turn over(voluntarily) to this employer the names of these alleged tergiversators?

Answer: It doesn't.
