Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

sick pay and vacation pay

I received a letter today that my position has been ''defunded'' I was scheduled for surgery in ten days. There were only 5 working days till I was scheduled off. With my vacation and my sick time I would have been paid through July 19th. I feel as if I was''defunded'' five days before my scheduled time off to avoid paying my sick pay and my vacation pay. However, The corporation I worked for, effective July 1st, lost their

management contract with the facility I was at . Can this corporation refuse to pay my vacation pay or my sick pay under the above circumstances?

Re: sick pay and vacation pay
