Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Termination

I am the HR person in a small Virginia business. Today is Wednesday. An employee left work on Friday evening and has not returned or called the office. The employee normally works Monday - Friday. The employer has made one attempt to contact the employee and has not received a return call. The employer (owner) wants to send a termination letter stating that since we have not heard from the employee, her employment is being terminated. I have advised the owner that since the employee left with cause, this is not necessary. The owner insists and wants to ensure that the employee knows that they are terminated. Should the owner send a letter? If so, what verbiage should be used?

I agree with the owner and no special

"verbiage" is required other than what the owner has apparently already suggested to which you've alluded in your question.
