Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Timesheet Submission

As an employer, how do I handle payroll if an employee fails to submit their timesheet. Can I decide to not process their pay if I don't know when and where they worked? Extra effort has been made to get the employee(s) to comply.

Re: Timesheet Submission

If there is no other way to validate the employee's claimed work hours, you can probably withhold the employee's paycheck until such verification is provided. (However, if the processing of your payroll is dependent in this digital age upon the submission of time sheets, it may be time for you to adopt other methods more in tune with current information technologies.)
