Tuition Reimbursement
Hello-
I received several payments of tuition reimbursement from my former employer. In order to receive this reimbursement, the only documentation I completed was an application for the benefit. The last time I submitted for the reimbursement, though, I was given a page which outlined how I was responsible for make payment back to the company should I voluntarily terminate. This was never given to me before when I submitted for reimbursement.
I have since left the company and they are taking the amount of payment out of my final pay and accrued leave. My question is, since I did not sign any continuation of service agreement (or authorization to pay back) with the earlier checks I received, am I obligated to pay the payments back? I understand that the last one I am obligated for--but, I did not sign anything prior to that agreeing to pay back the company for the reimbursement. As an aside, the company has a posted policy that states the requirement to pay back upon separation. But, is that enough to obligate me for the entire amount of the reimbursement without a signed authorization or continued service agreement?

Yes, I'd say the facts which you've described are sufficient to make out an agreement committing you to reimburse the company upon your termination.
