Unemployment and Voluntary Quit
I've been receiving unemployment compensation. A few weeks ago, I completed and sent in an application to the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) for an extension, which I was granted for a week. Then, I received a letter from the VEC stating I have a Fact Finding Interview scheduled for July 23rd. The issue that has been raised is ''whether or not you voluntary quit your employment with good cause.'' I did not quit my employment. The employer (a temp agency) told me they could not work with me because I am not able to work in at least three (3) jurisdictions in the Northern Virginia area, which is a requirement established by the temp agency. I told the temp agency when I first registered where I preferred to work as I must pick up my child from after care by 6 pm. Would the VEC consider my situation a voluntary quit? I contacted the employer's Corporate Office. I reminded the employer as to what happened. I was then told the employer would send the VEC a letter with a modified statement as to why I left. My Unemployment funds are blocked until a decision is made. I called the employer today to ask for a copy of the letter, but was told that ''it's not really a letter that they send.'' I'm confused. Please help.

Without knowing what the supplementary statement from the employer may say regarding your leaving,
I would have no idea(whether the VEC would consider your situation as described as a "volunary quit"), and, consequently, you'll probably have to wait until the July 23rd hearing when the agency makes its final decision in the matter.
