Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
unfair termination
i worked in the state of virginia, i had been on medical leave for a couple of months and then placed on a leave of absence without pay due to a work related injury that the workman comp administrator refused too pay for. While out of work paying for medical attention when the injury was caused at work, I was terminated. My leave ended on 04-01-07 which was on a sunday, i had a doctor's appointment that monday and reported out which i had enough vacation time and enough time not to warrant a termination but on 03-31-07 my insurance company stated that they received a letter of termination from sprint and then i was terminated on 04-02-07 but did not receive notification from the company until 04-16-07. Now the insurance letter that was dated for 03-31-07, i received on 04-25-07 and then sprint dmg group had also sent papers for an extension in which my dr submitted too the company, Do I have a leg too stand on against this company and what should I do?

Re: unfair termination
No, your employment was with an employer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, a so-called employment at will jurisdiction, meaning that unless you were working under a contract of
employment to protect you from summary dismissal, you would appear to be without a remedy.
