Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

unused vacation pay, laid off

My former company gives paid vacation time only after an employee's first year of employment. I interpret that as the current year's paid vacation time being earned the previous year. In March, management suspended all vacation pay and holiday pay to cut costs, so I took a planned week off in April without pay. At the end of June, half the office was laid off. Does the company have any liability for this year's 120 hours of vacation pay that I earned last year, and was not allowed to use in the months before I was laid off? How about next year's vacation time that I earned up until I was laid off? Those benefits were part of my compensation.

Re: unused vacation pay, laid off

No, unless the paid vacation benefits were guaranteed under a contract of employment(in my opinion).
