VA Resident held to CA Labor Laws?

If I work and live in Virginia can I be held to California Labor Laws? The company's headquarters are located in California. My company says yes????

It would depend in my view upon which law or laws you're referring to and that in fact the laws of both jurisdictions might be applicable in certain instances.
