Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Violation of company policy?

I had an incident on I-81 where a motorist tried to run me and another person off the road. Come to find out all three of work at the same place.

At the time of the incident I did not know that the angry driver was a fellow employee. I only assumed it was based on the fact that the other person involved said that she thought the angry motorist worked at our employer.

I looked in the parking lot and found the vehicle based on the license number. Our employer leases a place in a public mall.

My problem is that in my violation of company policy write up is that it states that once I found out that it was a fellow employee I wrote at note and left it on her car.

This is not the case. I did not know for certain that it was a fellow employee until the next day when I filed a warrent.

What should I do?

Re: Violation of company policy?

I have no idea what you may mean by "my violation of company policy write up", however, if you're being reprimanded or sanctioned by your employer on the basis of incorrect information, you should make every attempt possible to ensure that the company has the correct information.

If a criminal matter is now pending due to your complaint, you may also wish to contact the local prosecutor to see whether the matter might be quietly dropped-----(if not in the interest of justice, then in the interest of you keeping your job.)
