i am a truck driver and worked for a company delivering freight in their truck. i delivered a load to calif two weeks ago and cannot get them to give me my paycheck. their trucks were reposessed and they apparently used the money for patroll to get some of their trucks back approx. $18,000.00 and they are telling me they do not have the funds to pay me. what can i do? is this a criminal offense? and what can i do con sidereing this is causing my personal finances to default

No, what you've described is not a criminal offense. Companies experience financial difficulties all the time, shrink payrolls, trim employee benefits, declare bankruptcy, etc., actions which often result in employees(or independent contractors) not getting what they expected.

If this company continues to refuse to pay you, you can sue them in small claims court for the amount that is owed for less than $40 to file your case.
