Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Warren Act

I was layed off my job which was part of a government contract. I was told the reason for the lay off was lack of funds and down sizing by the government client. After roughly four years with the company I was given only two weeks severence pay. I have heard that since I had four years with my company I should have been given four weeks severence pay. Is there any truth to this. Clyde Rollins

Re: Warren Act

None that I know of; afterall, Virginia is a so-called employment at will jurisdiction where employers rarely pay such severance benefits ubless mandated to do so under a contract or collective bargaining type of agreement.
