Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia
I work as an Adjunct Professor at a Public University. I am considered part - time and can teach a maximum of 3 classes per semester. One Professor who was scheduled to teach a class is not teaching it for various reasons. So the University asked me to teach his class and I have been doing so for 6 weeks now. So I am teaching 4 classes this semester (the 4th class without any pay so far), which would make me full - time with 3 times the pay plus benefits. But the University is saying that I cannot be full - time and if they pay me for the 4th class it will be at adjunct rate and next semester I would be allowed to teach a maximum of 2 classes.
So should I be considered full-time for this semester with higher pay and benefits?

Assuming that you are working pursuing to a contract that defines your current
employment at the level of an adjunct professor, then until that changes your compensation would remain at that rate (in my opinion).
